Commitment to communication from the heart
Beatrice Nattermüller: In my practice as communication trainer, I see almost daily how our judgments and everyday language prevent us from being genuinely and powerfully connected – both with one another and with ourselves. It is as if we ‘apply the brakes’ to our self-expression and behave as we think we ‘ought’ to. Because being honest with yourself, being true to yourself and being able to listen without judgment demands courage. When I give workshops, coaching or supervision, I work practically and creatively within a framework in which trust is pivotal. With curiosity, open eyes and an open heart, I am prompted by my social commitment to want to support both adults and children in overcoming obstacles such as shame and anxiety.
My desire to work in the field of communication derives from my own life-experience. I have always felt anxious about raising my head above the parapet – acting from my feelings produced isolation. Questions such as ‘What would you like?’ ‘How would you do that?’ or ‘Why are you doing what you’re doing?’ might have encouraged me to find my own way and to connect with others. Even when we were not in agreement. An ‘almost burn-out’ made the chasm between head and heart all too clear.
It was at this time in my life that I learned – from Dutch and international trainers – about the power of Marshall Rosenberg’s Nonviolent Communication. The switch to thinking in terms of needs and possibilities does not happen of itself and demands time and practice. What I have received in return is a life with depth and intensity, where the quality of my relationships occupies a central position.
Inspiring is the tangible result of my desire to contribute by introducing you, in a playful way, to the language of the heart. Depth and connection are the gifts I offer you in the form of the Inspiring: my expression of the joy, connection and pleasure of life.
Emma Collins: I am passionate about contributing to peace and supporting personal transformation, believing strongly that our freedom and happiness is interconnected with one another’s. Originally from the UK, I have been living and working in Switzerland since 2010, offering transformational coaching along with international workshops on Compassionate Communication, Empathic Leadership and Transforming Conflicts.
My background is in social change, having been a part of the birth of two not-for-profit organisations in the UK, and I integrate my passion for contributing to positive change with over 20 years of experience in spiritual and personal development, bringing clients extensive modalities for inspiring personal growth, developing self-compassion, and deepening their relationships.
My own personal journey towards wholehearted living has included deep self-enquiry and healing through mindfulness practices, 12-step fellowships and Nonviolent Communication.
Today I support individuals who want to live powerful, wholehearted lives through 1:1 coaching combined with mindfulness and nonviolent communication practices, and through transformational workshops both to groups and organisations. I am honoured journey alongside others, developing awareness in communication and new ways of thinking that lead to greater meaning, purpose and satisfaction in life. Nonviolent Communication is one of the most powerful processes I have found to do this, and the inspiring TableTalk is a wonderful tool to support practice.
As I thrive on contributing to change, and exploring what makes life more wonderful for all beings, developing inspiring products with Beatrice has been a real joy for me. I am thrilled to see and hear all the ways individuals and groups are using it all over the world.
